The former Yugoslavia (South Slavs)

The architecture in Mostar reflects a long history of diverse cultures including the Christianity of the Roman Empire, Eastern Orthodoxy of the Byzantine Empire, and the Islamic influences of the Ottoman Empire.

The Old Bridge in Mostar, built during the Ottoman Empire, has long represented a bridge between cultures. Unfortunately, it was destroyed in 1993 during the war. Currently, it is under reconstruction.
